FAQ's
Who can attend the Homeschool Prom?
All homeschoolers in high school are invited to attend the Homeschool Prom with a Purpose. A homeschooler may bring one non-homeschooled guest. The minimum age is 14 as of September 1, 2023. No attendee may be older than 20 on Prom night. Also, anyone who attended the Homeschool Prom as a Senior and graduated high school may attend the Prom the following year. So, if you attended the 2023 Prom and graduated high school, you are invited to purchase a ticket and return for 2024 Prom (And we'd love to see you again!)
Do you have to have a date to attend Prom?
Absolutely not! Come with a group of friends, siblings, a date or fly solo...
Can my parents stay to watch the prom?
No. This event is for the kids and we want to make sure it stays that way. HOWEVER - we will allow parents inside at 10:30 pm. Everyone that comes inside is entering into an agreement to help stay and clean up after the event. If you will not stay to help clean up, you should wait outside for your child to come to your car once the event is over.
Will there be food?
Yes! We will not have a full dinner, however, we will have light snacks and drinks.
What kind of music will be played at the Prom? Can I make requests?
Music for the Prom will be provided this year by a DJ who will play various songs. There will be no profanity; "clean" or "radio" versions of songs will be played. The Planning Committee (comprised of parents and teens) will work closely with the DJ to ensure no offensive music is played. Song requests can made during the registration process.
Is there a Grand March?
Yes! We will have a Grand March again this year. Please be sure to add a phonetic pronunciation of your name for the DJ in the notes of your registration. Parents may stay to snap pictures of the Grand March, but please be considerate of the other parents and the photographer.
Is there a Photographer?
Yes! Shawn Gross has again graciously agreed to do photography of all attendees at the Chapel in the Hills in the afternoon. Please be sure to mark on your registration if you will be taking advantage of this fun part of the experience (at no additional charge). After registration closes, we will contact you with your scheduled time for the photo shoot.
How strict is the dress code?
Please be mindful of the dress code as stated above. If your dress does not meet the appropriate requirements, you may be turned away at check in. We will have safety pins and coverups at the check in table. But those can only do so much. We want you (and your guest) to be able to attend and enjoy Prom, so if you're unsure about a dress, please email a picture of you wearing the dress in question and we will give you a response as soon as possible.
Can I get a refund?
No refunds will be given for any reason. So be absolutely sure you can make it before purchasing tickets.
My parents would like to help somehow... what can they do?
We could use help with set up on Friday afternoon and clean up after prom. We are also looking for a few chaperone volunteers. If your family (or someone you know) owns a business: sponsors and giveaways for the event are also needed. We will also take donations anytime! Email us at bhhomeschoolprom@gmail.com if you are able to help.
The biggest thing parents (and teens) can do to help is to read these FAQs and adhere to these rules. Read the terms before you purchase your ticket. Once you purchase your ticket, you are bound by these rules. If you have any questions, please ask us for clarification BEFORE Prom night.
